Jerry and Ingrid Havens
Hi we are Ingrid and SGM (ret) Jerry Havens. With 30 plus years of military service and 17 moves, we decided to call Martinez home. While Ingrid is originally from Lampertheim, Germany and Jerry is from New Jersey, the southern appeal of the Augusta area lured us into the real estate market and we purchased some rental properties while still on active duty. Following Jerry’s retirement and our relocation to Martinez, we further embraced real estate. Jerry became a real estate broker and we quickly transitioned our interests into real estate investment. Today we are co-owners of a storage facility and rental truck dealership in the CSRA, as well as two real estate companies.

Sadly, we lost our only son to a tragic accident many years ago so we have no grandchildren of our own. Fortunately, our family and friends consider us as the surrogate Oma and Opa; allowing us to spoil children of all ages. We love the idea that we might in some small way make a positive difference in a child’s life while they attend Small Wonders Playcare Center.

Our goal is simple, continue the undisputed and wonderful reputation of Small Wonders Playcare Center. This business was started over 30 years and is known for its long tenured staff, which have nurtured and fostered the development of thousands of children over the years. We are committed to improving the facility whenever possible. The structure of this organization was already very strong under the management of the previous owners. We believe our contribution to Small Wonders Playcare Center will be positive as we move forward in the future.
Joe & Shelly Bailey
Hi, we are Joe & Shelly Bailey, co-owners of Small Wonders Playcare Center. As parents ourselves, we understand the challenges working families face in finding exceptional childcare. That’s why we believe every child deserves a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where they can learn, grow, and flourish. At Small Wonders, we are committed to providing personalized attention, and a lasting educational experience for every child who enters our center.
We met Jerry and Ingrid Havens began in 1999 while serving in the United States Army. The bond was immediate, and the business relationship developed soon after. Following Joe’s retirement from the Army in 2001 and Shelly’s transition to civilian life in 2002, we both continued our commitment to our great nation by accepting civil services positions with the Department of Defense. Joe retired from Civil Service in 2021, and Shelly Continues her service at Fort Gordon, GA. Our years of military and civilian service taught us valuable lessons in leadership, supervision, and managing complex operations – even in the most challenging environments. Most importantly, it deepened our dedication to those we serve.
That dedication is at the heart of Small Wonders. We are passionate about building strong home-to-school connections and working closely with families to provide the support every child needs to succeed.
